To the Esteemed Members of the Wikia:
It seems to me that I need to discuss this clearly so everyone understands my stance when it comes to dealing with the trolls and vandals that like to disrupt this site.
Quick summary: trolls crave attention. That's what they feed off. They do something like vandalize articles or say something (like asking for passwords, for example) just to get a response. And when anyone (including myself) responds to them, they get exactly what they want. Sure, we can continue to block them, but they come back, like the cockroaches and scum that they are. It is the job of the admins to make sure to keep their damage to a minimum by blocking them from continuing and reporting them to the staff at Fandom. In many cases, Fandom staff will be able to block their IP addresses, but we know that this won't keep them from returning.
I have asked many times for many people on this site not to engage with trolls. Why? Because the last thing anyone needs to do is to give them that attention. They do not deserve it. It is best to leave them alone, and let the staff of this site deal with them. You have the ability, I believe, to close threads, whether you're an admin or not, if someone sends you something offensive. It's your message wall. You have total control of what can be kept or deleted. If a troll or a vandal sends you a message, please delete it, and just notify an admin that there was a troll that needs to be blocked. We should be able to take care of the situation quickly.
Now, I know as much as I'd like for you not to engage, some people will continue to do so. Officially, I, nor anyone else, can not stop you from talking to them. You are certainly well within your rights to talk to whomever you want. It is merely a request that you not do so.
Because when we give the trolls what they want, it gives them incentive to come back.
